It doesnt matter where you put your chandelier, though it is very important to make sure that your chandelier does fit the size of your room!
It really hurts me when I see a single, chandelier in a massive room, its just gets lost sitting there all on its own!
For big rooms like the dining room or entry, go for massive chandeliers! If you're going to do it - do it properly. Entry is imperative, it has to be substantial. Maybe use 2 over your dining table if you have a smaller chandeliers and a big table!
Obviously a bathroom would require something smaller, but if its commercial space, restaurant, bar - GO BIG and make an impact!!!
There's a bit of a craze for hanging a chandelier to the left of your bathroom vanity, just above head level - I love this and will be doing this for a renovation Im doing at the moment...
If you have ever stayed at the Peppers Balfour Hotel in New Farm, they have done this though with a moroccan pendant in the dining room bathroom and it looks amazing. Its also a very soft light for your powder room and of course - its different!
